and another year has gone by
I’m getting old. And for the first time I’m truly excited about it. Not because of the age itself but because of what is coming my way.
the past 2-3 years of my life were…a hot ass mess. Yes there were truly beautiful and inspiring moments. But there were also some truly ugly ones.
But I’m moving on. There were lessons learned and experiences that I wouldn’t trade...

THE STRANGE THING ABOUT THE JOHNSONS
I was disgusted, yet mesmerized at the same time. This 30-min short is about a black middle class family that appears very normal, but the son and father are involved in a sexual relationship. Actually, the father is a famous poet that has been molested by his son for years, but the father has written a revealing manuscript...

So Real it Hurts: Notes on Occupy Wall Street →
A Powerful must read
“Let me tell you what it feels like to stand in front of a white man and explain privilege to him. It hurts. It makes you tired. Sometimes it makes you want to cry. Sometimes it is exhilarating. Every single time it is hard. Every single time I get angry that I have to do this, that this is my job, and that it shouldn’t be my job. Every single time I am proud...

Dear Esquire,
On July 25th, your magazine decided to use the Newsweek account of the accuser in the Dominique Strauss-Kahn case as an introduction to an article about how to get a blowjob. While your tweets have been deleted, you stated: “According to the famous maid who’s suddenly…

Here’s a rare bit of excellent news: The Department of Health and Human Services has signed off on recommendations to include contraception in preventative care. In other words, kiss your co-pay goodbye.

I’ve decided that by this time next year, I’ll have a song or poem dedicated to every man I’ve ever been with. It’s not so much for them but rather to mark what, if anything, I’ve learned from each experience.
can’t wait to see how this goes

I hate wasting my time. I don’t waste my time. My time is precious. Everything that I give and share is precious. I don’t ask for much. I rarely ask for anything at all. I do not deserve lies, especially when you claim to care so much.
I’m clearly not the only one you’re lying to.

I’m gonna take myself a piece of sunshine
and paint it all over my sky. Be no rain. Be no rain. I’m gonna take the song from every bird and make them sing it just for me. Be no rain. And I think I’ll call it morning from now on. Why should I survive on sadness …
